Ribb's high scoring run continues as the team continues to improve, Ribb's pack were better than their opponents but they used their backs to out flank Ribb and eventually ran out winners , but the result masked the fact that the game was in doubt until the last ten minutes. Ribb were strengthened by the return of the Long brothers who both had an impact bringing a bit of bite in defence. However Ribb's star player was Nathan Harding at ten who converted four tries and a penalty and kicked well tactically and got his back line going. Ribb were handicapped by illness to John Padley who had flue , he played for two thirds of the game but was not his usual effervesent self.
Ribb started well with an early try from a maul by Adam Middleton who had another good game .Rishworth came back with a good back move giving their left winger room for a well converted try in the corner, they then scored two further tries to put them twenty one seven up after thirty minutes .Ribb however came back with a try by John Long to go in at half time twenty one fourteen.Just before half time there was a a match chamging decision by the refreee,Ribb had got Ryan Sumner over for a try near the posts , but the referee disallowed it for a double movement despite him not being held.He then sin binned the player for dissent even though he did not appear to have spokento the referee. This deprived Ribb of their main attacking player for the period before and after half time and a score which seemed legitimate .
After half time Rishworth scored a further try on the wing and converted this and a penalty, to put them thirty one fourteen ahead.Ribb then had their best patch of the game, taking the larger opponents pack on for tries by Franky Brown and Ian Close both converted with long kicks by Harding.
Almost from the kick off Ribb were awarded a penalty which Harding converted to put the teams level at thirty one each. Rishworth then changed their tactics keeping the ball away from the forwards and scoring three further tries all wide out to run out winners at 46 -31.
Ribb put in a good shift, the pack were on top most of the game, their achilles heel is wide defence but this was much improved and without the loss to illness to their outstanding forward John Padley could well have taken this game. Nathan Harding had an outstanding game at ten and Josh and Tom Long played well on their seasons debut.Tom Maudsley continues to impress and on this form Ribb are due for a home win at home to Ripon this week, its is essential if they are to move away to the middle of the league.
